Azzedine Alaïa will open his first London flagship store at 139 Bond Street, near to Belstaff and Smythson.
The brand – which is owned by Compagnie Financière Richemont – is rumoured to be paying an estimated £1,500 a square metre. WWD reports that the store will cover 6,000 square feet over three floors. An open date is not yet known.
Alaïa has only two boutiques, both in Paris, although his creations are sold internationally. The revered, hugely influential designer famously doesn’t agree with the traditional fashion calendar, showing only when he feels inspired. Fans include Naomi Campbell, Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama and Rihanna.
