If you don’t think of yourself as a polo shirt kind of guy, it’s time to rethink your stance. Because unlike those sad promo versions with corporate logos—or, even worse, the popped-collar-and-nautical-critter variety—there is such thing as an unapologetically cool polo shirt. Need proof? Look no further than the one Ralph Lauren just released today.

Named the Tour Jacket Polo, the new style is a heavily embroidered riff on the souvenir jackets soldiers wore to commemorate tours of duty in Asia back in the mid-20th Century. (If the thematic elements look familiar, that’s probably because the actual jacket version of the style had a renaissance recently.) Decked out with everything from tigers and birds to a map of Hawaii, this one is finished off with bold color-blocking at the shoulders and tipping on the collar and cuffs.

The Tour Jacket Polo by Ralph Lauren, the first in a new series of limited-edition offerings.
Basically, it’s the easiest way to get a lot of look—in a good way—without a lot of layers. What more could you ask for in the dog days of summer? It’s on sale now, but move quick if you want one. It is, after all, limited. But if you do miss out, worry not: There are four more editions on the way, dropping monthly until November. Mark your calendar.
